My mother and two of my cousins were avid family historians. They started researching our family back in the 1970s, maybe earlier, long before there was the internet and easy access to information. They had to search in dusty old courthouse records to look for information. My husband’s family has a rich history too. We were lucky that our families always talked about our ancestors and shared stories from generation to generation.

Now that our parents have passed away and our generation has become the custodian of all that knowledge, the question we’re asking ourselves is what should we do with all the family history collected over the last 50 years and the knowledge that was shared. That is a question many ask themselves. How do you share all that has been collected so future generations can access it?

This site is being created to do just that. My father was a Saulmon and my mother was a Townsend. My husband’s father was a Mitchell and his mother a Leith. With our children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins in mind, we’ve organized this site by those four main branches. We know we can’t capture all the information we have but this is a good start. We haven’t include items like census records that can be found online. We have included items that a little harder to find or are in our personal files. And we know this contains just some highlights and is very much an evolving project.
